Looks Leads Lifestyle started a book club! We hope you will join us.
Our first book was Carrie Gress book Anti-Mary. Rather than Anti-Christ, this book was about secular culture crusades against Mary and Catholic doctrine on women via Communism and casual sex.
As a history lover, Gress dive into European Anti-Catholic, pro-Communism hysteria over 100 years ago mirrors the current social movement in the US--proving up the cliches that history repeats, is the greatest teacher, and the best spoiler alert. Historical spoiler alert: Communism did not begin or end well in Europe.
Gress tackled Fatima and other Catholic ideas such as First Fridays for Sacred Heart and Saturdays for Immaculate Heart of Mary starkly aand shockingly along side the atheist orgies of 1970s feminists and lack of decorum in modern day feminists.
We enjoyed readings on Mary, mother of God/Jesus, her beauty and her pain, and the prayers to finish the book!
This book brought up a lot of discussion and allowed us to discuss Catholic ideas and customs.

Now some of you may think, I am talking food. But being Italian is first and foremost about being Catholic.
It is God, family, food, dressing well and living well and in that order.
Don't believe me, check out your hometown in Italy's Facebook page and see what festivals they promote--its a different saint every week practically and the streets are packed, wall to wall, cannot even move.
A hundred plus years ago the Italians that came to Chicago started these here as well, others more recent.
As a family, you will really only catch us at a religious street festival, because the rest are just frankly NOT authentic and as you know I only like it if it is REAL.
This is a way for you to experience the real Italy right here in Chicagoland area.
We welcome you to join nightly Novenas in preparation July 10-18 from 730 to 845pm usually with some dessert/coffee after outside of the church--so bring friends.
Then we will meet you at the Church at 9am on Sunday, July 19th, for a mass in Italian and English and a full day of processions and masses to honor God, Jesus, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and other saints. The church activities usually end at 4/5pm, but throughout the day and after you can enjoy each others company at the street festival over traditional Italian street food.
Please join us with friends and family from birth to 110 years old for this special event. Religious or not, this is the real Italy right here in Chicago.
Our family has participated in this tradition since the 1970's, and whether your family was once involved or always involved I want you there! I am shooting for 5000 attendees, so I need you to get 10,000 to register. Please share with your friends, I will be sending reminders via email and text to ensure attendance.
Please wear what you would wear to a formal church service, it is summer, so dress accordingly, but respectable, no gym shoes. In the old days men wore suits that didn't carry, so break out that linen suit and let's Looks Leads Lifestyle the event. If you would like to carry the Madonna, please let me know, I can help you sign up.
